Accessibility statement
Last updated: 18th December, 2025
This accessibility statement applies to the websites at app.participantkit.com and app.consentkit.com. It does not apply to content on the websites participantkit.com or consentkit.com.
This website is run by Consent Kit. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We decided on a sample of pages to test by reviewing the most common key journeys through the website and prioritising those first.
- A participant signing a consent form or other agreement
- A researcher creating a new project, including:
- Creating a new study
- Creating consent forms or other legal agreements
- Adding participants to the study
- Messaging participants via bulk email
- Reviewing a participants audit trail, including consent given
- Linking recordings and other research data to a participants given consent
- A research managing people in a research panel, including:
- Reviewing data in the panel
- Searching and filtering people in the panel
- Adding a panelist to a project from a panel
- An administrator managing their organisation’s account, including:
- Managing organisation details like name and key contact
- Creating and amending data retention policies
- Managing their team member access and roles

Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Consent Kit is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
All participant-facing pages and forms are fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. This was independently verified through a professional audit by the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) in 2025.
Researcher-facing interfaces are compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Admin-facing interfaces are partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. We are working to achieve WCAG 2.2 AA compliance across the entire platform.
Our phased approach
We’re implementing accessibility improvements across three distinct areas:
| Area | Current Compliance | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Participant-facing pages | ✅ WCAG 2.2 AA | ✅ RNIB audited, 2025 |
| Researcher-facing interfaces | ✅ WCAG 2.1 AA | 🔄 Working towards WCAG 2.2 AA |
| Admin-facing interfaces | ⚠️ Partial WCAG 2.1 AA | 🔄 Completing WCAG 2.1 AA 📋 Then WCAG 2.2 AA |
This approach prioritises the participant experience first - because people participating in research deserve an experience that works for them, regardless of their abilities.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
The following issues do not meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards:
- Panel data import (admin area): The initial data mapping when importing panelists uses a drag-and-drop interface that cannot be operated via keyboard alone. This affects administrators setting up panel imports. We plan to address this by implementing an alternative keyboard-accessible interface.
- Error messages: Some error messages across the platform are not as clear as they could be. We are working to improve the clarity and usefulness of error messaging throughout the platform.
Disproportionate burden
We believe that fixing the accessibility problems with some content would be disproportionate because the relevant content is single use per account or will be retired soon.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
Not applicable - all content on this website is within scope of the accessibility regulations.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We have integrated accessibility testing into our product development lifecycle. Every time we publish something new, it is:
- Subjected to automated accessibility testing using the Axe automated accessibility testing tool
- Manually reviewed by a member of our quality and assurance team
For larger releases where we are introducing something new, our accessibility testing process also includes:
- Send to a third party accessibility testing agency to review the new workflow or process
- Test the new workflow or process with real people with accessibility needs
We are working to achieve the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard across the entire platform. We will update this page when issues are fixed.
Why accessibility matters to us
Accessibility isn’t about ticking boxes or meeting minimum standards - it’s a core ethical responsibility. When someone with dyslexia fills out a consent form or a user with a screen reader navigates our panels, they shouldn’t have to work harder because we cut corners.
We know this work won’t necessarily drive more sales. But that’s precisely when your values truly matter. It’s the details that most people won’t notice - like contrast ratios tweaked to 3:1 at midnight, or the 1% of our profits we donate to climate charities every year - that make a business more ethical.
Getting our participant-facing pages to WCAG 2.2 AA wasn’t required. But if you’re going to do accessibility, you might as well do it right. We engaged RNIB to audit us properly, and now every participant can engage with our platform on equal footing.
